Privacy Policy

The short version
Ink & Giggle is a small custom-cartoon business. We collect the minimum amount of personal info needed to draw your cartoon, send it to you, and run the business. We don't sell your data, we don't run ad-tracking pixels (other than Google Analytics for our own traffic stats), and you can ask us to delete your data anytime by emailing hello@inkandgiggle.com.
What we collect
When you order
- Name and email address — so we can send you the proof and the final files.
- The photo you upload — used as the source for your custom cartoon. Stored on our server until the order is fulfilled, then optionally archived locally for our records.
- Your brief / order details — the description of the recipient, occasion, and any caption ideas you provide.
- Payment info — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, CVV, or expiry. Stripe gives us a transaction ID and the dollar amount charged; that's it.
- Your IP address — temporarily stored for spam-prevention rate limiting (max 5 form submissions per IP per hour).
When you sign up for the email list
- Email address — kept until you unsubscribe.
- Your IP address — for spam protection.
- Consent timestamp — when you confirmed your subscription, kept as proof of consent.
When you visit any page
- Standard server logs from our hosting provider (IP address, page visited, browser/device type, timestamp). Used for debugging and security; deleted on a rolling basis.
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymized, IP-truncated, used to understand traffic patterns. We don't use it for ad targeting.
What we use it for
- Delivering the cartoon you ordered (drawing, proofing, printing via Printify)
- Communicating with you about your order (proofs, revisions, shipping, follow-up)
- Sending newsletter content if you've opted in (always with an unsubscribe link)
- Spam prevention and basic security
- Understanding which content / posts get the most traffic so we know what to write more of
Who we share it with
We share data with the following service providers, only as needed to deliver your order:
- Stripe — payment processing. Privacy policy
- Printify — when your order includes printed merchandise. We send your cartoon image (no personal contact info) and the shipping address you provide. Privacy policy
- Our SMTP / email provider — for sending order confirmations, proofs, and welcome emails.
- Our web host — runs the server that stores your order details.
- Google Analytics — anonymized traffic data. Privacy policy
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
How long we keep it
- Order details (name, email, brief) — kept indefinitely as a business record (so we can answer "you drew one for my dad in 2023" questions). You can request deletion anytime.
- Uploaded photos — kept while we process your order plus a short period for revisions; then archived locally or deleted.
- Payment records — kept per Stripe's retention policy (currently 7 years, for tax/audit purposes).
- Email subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe; unsubscribe records kept indefinitely as proof we removed you.
- Rate-limit IPs — kept for 1 hour, then auto-deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal info we have about you
- Request a copy of it
- Request correction or deletion
- Opt out of marketing emails (anytime, via the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- (EU/UK residents) Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these, email hello@inkandgiggle.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We use a single first-party cookie (PHPSESSID for the public site, IG_ADMIN_SESS for the admin) for security purposes — specifically, to issue and verify CSRF tokens that protect the order form from cross-site request forgery. These cookies are HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and only sent over HTTPS. We don't use third-party tracking cookies.
Google Analytics may set its own first-party analytics cookies. You can opt out of GA tracking globally with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Children's privacy
Ink & Giggle isn't directed at children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes (new uses, new third parties) will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
